Listening Buddy Course Wednesday 23rd August
Venue Cwmfelin Social Club, Swansea SA5 9NR (refreshments & lunch included). Free parking available.
This course is for members of the South and West Wales Safety Group only and is free. It is limited to 30 attendees. We are charged for this and any non attendees who have booked will be invoiced for £60 via their organisation.
This one day Listening Buddy course is more advanced, so attendees on this programme must have completed the Mental Health Awareness and First Aid course within the preceding three years (the safety group held four such courses for members in summer 2021). The Listening Buddy course will introduce the learner to essential talking strategies, de-escalating techniques, how to approach and engage, how to manage stigma and how to create safe, welcoming, confidential environments within the workplace. It will give an introduction to the structure and background of how mental health services can help and guidance on how to obtain more comprehensive support.
At the end of each course a multiple-choice question paper will be given to assess and reinforce knowledge of the taught content. Teaching will be delivered by two Mental Health Nurses who are also University Lecturers.
This is one of four courses being offered this summer.
Places are limited to two members per organisation for each type of course
