The South and West Wales Safety Group actively  supports the Safety Groups UK. Our Group has been recognised for its achievements for promoting health and safety in the South and West Wales area. The Alan Butler Award celebrates the achievements of Safety Groups UK. Our Group has received many Alan butler Awards since their inception in 1996. In 2019 we were adjudged to be the overall winner of the Alan Butler Gold Award. We were awarded a gold award in 2022 ,2023 and a silver award in 2024. 

A new award was introduced in 2024.

SGUK Health and Safety Hero Awards – to recognise the exceptional health and safety achievements of individuals who are making a difference to the world of health and safety.

Safety Groups UK Awards for 2024.
 Safety Groups UK awarded our group a silver excellence award our Chair Kay Barnes was awarded the Maurice Adamson Award for outstanding service and Our Vice Chair, Scott McKinnon, the Vice Presidents’ Trophy as runner up in the H&S Hero Award category. An impressive list of awards. They were presented at IOSH HQ on 13th November. Congratulations to Kay and Scott and the committee of our group.

Safety Groups UK is pleased to announce the timetable for the 2026 Awards programme culminating in the celebration of individual award winners at the November presentation ceremony. This key element of SGUK’s DNA sits alongside the development and implementation of a 3 year strategic plan which will measurably increase SGUK ‘s profile and support capability for all members. We encourage the members of South and West Wales Safety Group to apply for an award.
