Our Alec Blackburn Seminar June 28th 2023.Accident Investigation – Navigating The Legal Requirements

The seminar gave practical advice on how to navigate the immediate period following an incident, together with an  understanding of the powers of the regulators, including the right to take documents, interview witnesses and serve enforcement notices.

This  equipped attendees  with the tools and skills e required to react appropriately to a serious incident , to understand when and how to trigger legal privilege; to conduct a comprehensive investigation and to convert those findings into a quality internal report. Advice was given on essential issues such as managing HSE visits and requests for documents (including your organisation’s internal investigation report).

The day ended with  a mock PACE interview – role playing an HSE interview ‘under caution’.

The presenters were Phil Newton (associate solicitor) and Jon Cowlan (health and safety consultant), Pinsent Masons LLP (Solicitors).
