Chemical First Aid at Work – What You Need to Know

Learning what to do following a chemical accident is an essential skill for all those who handle chemicals. It is essential to understand the epidemiology of chemical injuries. When an incident occurs employees should be able to identify dangers at the scene & keep themselves safe. They should be able to manage solid and liquid chemical injuries to the skin and/or eyes, the inhalation of chemicals or needle-stick injuries. They should understand the value and limitations of their organisation’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and how to report adverse events.
