Mental Health Awareness First Aid Course Wednesday 26th July 2023
Venue Cwmfelin Social Club, Swansea SA5 9NR (refreshments & lunch included). Free parking available.
This course is for members of the South and West Wales Safety Group only and is free. It is limited to 30 attendees. We are charged for this and any non attendees who have booked will be invoiced for £60 via their organisation.
The aim of this one day Mental Health Awareness and First Aid course is to identify and increase knowledge of mental health issues, their impact and their effects on your workforce and yourself as an individual. We will discuss commonly seen mental health conditions, their consequences and the epidemiology of those affected. Particular emphasis will be given to cover stress, depression and anxiety, which make up to 44% of work-related ill health and 54% of working days lost (HSE, 2020). This course will finish with information on personal wellbeing, resilience and how to identify and immediately support someone who is having difficulties.
At the end of the course a multiple-choice question paper will be given to assess and reinforce knowledge of the taught content. Teaching will be delivered by two Mental Health Nurses who are also University Lecturers.
This is one of four courses being offered this summer.
Places are limited to two members per organisation for each type of course
